Nominations

All nominations shall be received during the period designated during the General Membership meeting. You may self-nominate, but every nomination must have a second. All HOPE members are eligible to run and vote, including union staff who are also members of HOPE. This includes new members who turn in their cards in during the meeting. However, no union resources of any kind may be used to campaign for nomination or election. After nominations have been received and membership status is verified, candidates will be asked to submit their name and their worksite name, as they wish it to appear on the ballot.

Election

Order for the ballot will be selected by a random draw. Ballots will be composed, and an election period will be opened. All those present at the meeting who are HOPE members, or sign a card to become a member, will be allowed to vote. Voting will be by secret ballot.

Each HOPE member can vote for up to four (4) candidates on the ballot. Voting for more than four candidates will result in disqualification of the ballot. The top four vote-getters will be elected. A majority is not necessary.

Election Committee

Nominations, elections, and ballot counting will be overseen by the HOPE Election Committee - members, appointed by the President, who agree not to run for election, or campaign for a candidate. Election Committee members may vote.
